In Sydney, wedding videos are becoming more popular, and increasing in quality as the industry grows! However, there are also some important things for the wedding party to keep in mind in order to get the best results from your Sydney wedding video. You won’t hear these tips everywhere, but they'll make a big difference to the smoothness of your experience and the quality of your video!
Get your photographer and your videographer talking
Your photographer and videographer have very similar roles, and if they don't have a chance to coordinate beforehand it could be awkward! They'll want to be in the same places, and will have some of the same requirements in terms of lighting, gathering people, etc. Put them in contact with each other is the easiest and least stressful way to coordinate the two!
Talk with your entertainment coordinator about video requirements
Getting the best out of your Sydney wedding video means having plenty of bright lighting, and a quiet enough environment to clearly capture the sound. If you have an entertainment coordinator (whether paid or unpaid!), they'll need to take these requirements in to account. It could be a good idea to have your entertainment coordinator run through their plan with the Sydney wedding video creator also.
Have the videographer attend the rehearsal
If you can afford a little extra time, having the videographer attend the rehearsal can help get the creative juices flowing, let them get a sense of you as a couple and the style of Sydney wedding video that will suit you, etc.
Ignore the camera...mostly!
You'll get a far more natural result for your wedding video if you can (almost) completely forget that the camera exists. Focus on your friends, your family, and the day ahead. I say that you should 'mostly 'ignore the camera because some of our favourite Sydney wedding video moments come from a bride's cheeky wink, or a groom's eyebrows nervously raised directly at the camera!
Check in with the church/wedding venue about camera positioning
Sometimes the venue itself will have restrictions on where the cameraperson can be placed. In churches, they are usually not allowed behind the altar, for example. A quick check with the venue is all it takes.
Have some of your own ideas!
At InStyle Video, we are happy to accommodate special requests and the personal ideas of the bride and groom in the wedding video. Our Sydney wedding video team can happily cater to requests like:
- Creating photo collages - a film montage of the bride and groom's childhood/teenage photos
- Capturing your parents, grandparents or friends talking about their memories of you both
- Bringing along an extra camera for part of the booking, to capture both the bride's and groom's preparations, or to get both the grooms and bride's faces as she is walking down the aisle, etc.
Ask how you can improve the sound
Wearing wireless microphones, and being aware of the sound requirements of the video will help complete your Sydney wedding video and make it so much more than just a moving photograph.
